Yay for rain and cooler weather! Things have been quite dry and the bugs have been out in full force. This summer wasn't nearly as hot as a normal Texas summer, but it doesn't take much hot, dry weather to attract bugs. I am hopeful that the cooler weather will keep them away until next spring.
We put some new transplants in right before the rain so I think this will give them a nice head start.

This row is red kale, red cabbage, Asian greens, Chinese cabbage and brussel sprouts. The vine on the right is our buttercup squash that are just starting to produce. We aren't sure what we will plant to fill in the rest of the rows. Possibly carrots and leeks.
A closer look.......
Our burgundy okra is going crazy. We have to pick every day or they get huge and tough. They taste the same as green okra, just look cool.
The pumpkin has had a hard time. We were hit hard by spotted beetles and cucumber beetles. You can see where they have been eating on the pumpkins. Not all of them look this bad, but they are taking forever to all get orange. Right now we have them at all different sizes and colors. We really thought we planted them early enough, but next year I think we will plant even sooner.
We do have some really cool looking gourds for decorating though.

It's not exactly the pumpkin patch we were hoping for, but we learned a lot and hopefully we won't make the same mistakes next year.In the end it still makes a pretty display.
