Spring is one of my favorite times and this year we have had some great rains to start the season. You really can't get better than rain to start a new growing season. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.....
I think we planted this Elbon Rye in November. (I remember it felt late) Our chickens are happy about all this green grass and they are laying eggs like crazy now that the days are getting longer!
Eggs anyone?
Our garden is going crazy now too. We had a couple of big freezes that didn't affect anything we had and now all this rain is sending the plants into orbit.

On the left we have Red Rouge lettuce, on the right Speckled Trout Back lettuce. In the middle we have spinach planted, and leeks are at the far end.
Can't say enough about this Kale. This variety is Red Russian. It has been growing since the end of the summer. You cut it, it grows back. It takes the freezes. It's good in stir fry, salad, smoothies, and chopped up in your eggs. My girls both eat it straight out of the garden. I think it's a little strong that way, but I'm not telling them that!
This area has two kinds of beets, purple, and green, a few rows of carrots, and some arugula.
This is our Oregano. We have two types of Oregano. They are Hot and Spicy and Italian. Both are really good, just depends on what you are using them for.
Three types of onions, red, white, and yellow. It will be a while yet before they are big enough to eat. A 40 ft row! That's a lot of onions!
We also have peas, kolrabi, bok choy, cucumber, bell pepper, gypsy peppers, corn, patty pan squash, zucchini, green beans, yellow wax beans, and basil, either planted in our garden or in pots to be transplanted when they get ready!
This season is starting off with a bang. Don't forget to check out our In The Garden page to see what is available now and what the prices are.
